Introducing Lansdowne Sensory Room

We are incredibly proud of the new Sensory Room that has recently been opened at Lansdowne School. This is a relaxing space for the pupils that is being used to great effect for sensory therapy sessions.

Pupils throughout the school who are on the autism spectrum are currently making the most of the new sensory room. This allows the students to touch and feel the various soft learning resources. It also helps to manage various moods.

We are encouraging the pupils to explore the concept of play and how to express themselves. Sharing of the resources is also important. We are already seeing some positive outcomes from any pupils that may feel frustrated in the classroom.

The Lansdowne School Sensory Room is a resource that we will continue to develop across all age groups in the schools. All pupils on the autism spectrum are currently timetabled for up to three sessions per week. This is something that is greatly valued, as well as being good fun – as you can see from the video above.
