Year 8 Anti-Smoking

Year 8

A major theme during our humanities lessons in Year 8 has been how to live a healthy lifestyle. Having learnt about what makes up a healthy diet, the focus for recent lessons has been to look at lifestyle choices and how these are so important for our health.

The dangers of smoking have been a major theme that Year 8 have been looking at. We started off our work by looking at the scientific harm that tobacco can cause within our bodies. This ranged from the relatively mild effects such as having a furry tongue, through to the often-fatal situation of having a heart attack caused by smoking.

We also looked at the many harmful substances that can be found inside a cigarette. Finally we finished off this work by drawing some anti-smoking posters for our class display board.
