Year 11 are continuing with their art project looking at the different types of design and textures that we can observe in physical buildings. Having looked closely at our immediate local environment around Lansdowne School, the students are now studying some secondary resources of old Victorian buildings.
We have been looking at some of the unique features found on buildings from this period. These include a very intricate form of design, with many decorative features added to the buildings.
The students have re-created some early sketches of the Victorian buildings that we have been researching. Attention has been paid to the size and shape of each structure.
We are going to develop this work over the coming weeks by creating some large clay tiles that will have an imprint of the designs and sketches that we are working on. Once the designs have set, Year 11 will choose an appropriate metallic paint to complete the authentic Victorian look.
You can watch some of the early thoughts from one of our enthusiastic Year 11 art students in the video above.
