Year 7 are coming close to completing their artwork inspired by the Aborigines. We have been learning how Aboriginal art often tells a story or a message. The pupils were set the task of coming up with a story that had a problem, a resolution and a conclusion. We then told this story in an Aboriginal style painting.
The pupils are also completing a highly detailed Aboriginal piece of work paying attention to the specific style used by the Aborigines. We have been learning about the importance of earth colours in this culture – brown, red, yellow and green. Our research has also led us to observe how the Aborigines used borders around their artwork to great effect, and then decorated these with spots.
