Our PSHE work in Year 9 at Lansdowne has involved the pupils looking at the concept of human rights. It has required the students to think carefully about some very moving topics with a mature approach.
Each class member was asked to make a choice between researching the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, or the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Both of these conventions contain many articles. We asked each student to select one of the articles that they would like to research further.
The pupils investigated the article online, and then a series of questions were then answered. One of the learning intentions was to think about these articles and their possible relevance to our own lives.
