Lemon scones were on the menu for Year 9 during the first food tech session at Lansdowne School since the Easter break. The students worked together in pairs to follow a set recipe detailing every step that needed to be taken.
The teaching staff asked Year to assess their progress at every stage in the baking process. We wanted to know if the mixture felt and looked the way in which it should. If not, how could we change this?
The role of each ingredient was also considered. The pupils had to be particularly careful when adding the exact amount of lemon. Too much would be over-powering, whilst not enough would lead to bland tasting scones being baked.
