Four fantastic songs were sung at the most recent Lansdowne School Friday morning singing and signing assembly. The School Choir is certainly leading the way in helping to pass on the knowledge and enthusiasm for our music to our other friends in the school.
The songs for Friday included Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Stand By Me, Imagine and a very uplifting performance of Waving Flag – a song which is always a favourite amongst the choir.
Mr. Hilton then addressed the assembly as it was time to celebrate some of the achievements at Lansdowne School over the past week. Each Friday the teaching staff meet together to give careful consideration over which pupils have achieved an outstanding level of learning.
Certificates of achievement were handed out across all subject areas to the pupils that have particularly impressed. This includes the complete curriculum from maths and literacy through to gardening and horse riding.
Each week staff member Lisa very kindly accompanies a group of pupils from Lansdowne to the brilliant Ebony Horse Riding Club in Brixton. Catarina has been making some fantastic progress. She was awarded the star achiever for her efforts.
You can find out more about the Lansdowne pupils at Ebony by listening to the short recording below.
Star Class of the Week trophy to be presented. In joint third place with 57% of ticks for achievement and behaviour was Class 11RM and 10CJ. 80% was achieved by Class 7JO. The winners however were Class 8RM with a wonderful 92% of tick marks achieved.
The assembly finished with the whole school singing happy birthday to Alice.
