Year 9 have shown some tremendous confidence in playing some solo music compositions on the Lansdowne School keyboards. This work is all highly original and was composed individually by each student.
The idea was to use the notes on the musical scale to write a short story. This is a cross-curriculum approach combining both music and literacy. Words such as bee, ate or cage have been used in the stories.
Each class member has spent some time rehearsing their solo piece. The outcome for this work was to play the personalised musical composition, as well as read out the story to accompany the music. Thought was given to adding in rhythm and a pace of delivery.
You can watch one Year 9 musician performing his piece in the short video above.
