Year 7 have been having some fantastic fun playing with the large football during our recent PE sessions at Lansdowne School. It is important for all pupils to feel involved during these sessions, as well as feeling safe. The large football is perfect for this.
All of the class members are able to participate on a similar level. There is also no concern about jumping up to head the ball, or having the very soft ball being kicked in our direction.
We have found that the large ball helps to slow down the pace of the game slightly as well. This is another way in which all class members can feel part of the shared activity.
Mr. Lee has been helping Year 7 to think about some of the skills that they need to be part of a winning team. Finding space and passing to a team mate is an important skill, no matter what size the football is. Working together rather than individual flair always helps as well.
A recent Reds vs Blues game finished with a 1-1 draw. There were friendly handshakes by all players come the final whistle. Great fun – as you can see from the video above.
