Education, Training and support into Employment for young people SEND Post 16

Lambeth Council is running an event on the 10th November which will be looking at how we can support young people with SEND in education, employment and training post-16. The aim of the event is to better understand what the aims and aspirations of Lambeth’s young people are in this area, what resources the Council currently have available to support them, and where the gaps are in provision.

Lambeth Council is really keen to have as many young people and their families there as possible. The Council is aware that some of the young people may also need additional support to be able to contribute.

With the implementation of the Children and Families Act and the Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) reforms 2014, young people with SEND needs are entitled to additional support up to the age of 25 years old if they are in education or training

In Lambeth, we see this as a great opportunity for our young people to achieve their ambitions, and want to ensure that we have the right support and provision in place to enable young people to succeed in education with clear progression pathways into adulthood.

We would like to invite you to our coproduction event to build on existing work which is already taking place in Lambeth. We will be exploring what the outcomes young people are looking to achieve, the provision available and discuss what support is available to help young people achieve those outcomes.

We will then be able to explore in more depth where potential gaps may exist and how we can all work together to communicate and improve SEND provision in this area within the Borough of Lambeth.

Time: 2 – 5pm (tea and coffee will be served from 1:30)
