Year 10 have been performing some drama sketches based around our current class reading text of Treasure Island. Our early work for this topic has been focussing on some of the key characters and their motivations.
The pupils have been looking at some of the early scenes in the text that help to set up the plot. One of these is the meeting between Blind Pew and Captain Silver. The Year 10 students have been understanding how this scene is crucial for what is to follow.
The pupils have been working in small groups to improvise this scene. Some scripts were used as a starting point for the dialogue. The pupils were also encouraged to improvise, yet keep the main flow of the plot.
Each group acted out their short sketch in front of other audience members. Constructive feedback was then offered by our friends to help improve the Year 10 drama skills.
