Mr Hilton introduced a recent singing and signing assembly by asking the Lansdowne students to remind everyone of the key target that we are all trying to meet this term. All pupils are trying extra hard to speak politely to one another.

Our weekly celebratory assembly is a great opportunity to put this into practise. This is an occasion when the whole school comes together in recognition of some of the achievements throughout the past week.

Miss H then led the Lansdowne Choir with a couple of uplifting songs. The pupils performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Stand By Me. Volunteers were asked to lead from the front of the assembly, and help staff member Mikita with the signing.

Individual certificates of achievements were then handed out. The new certificate for showing extra effort with homework was one of the awards being celebrated.

The Class of the Week trophy was eagerly contested. Four classes performed exceptionally high in the past week in gaining full marks on their tick sheets for each lessons. Class 10JH, Class 10NE and Year 7 were all praised. The winners of the trophy was the Year 8 students.

Mr Hilton then reminded all pupils that the Year 11 students are currently sitting their GCSE exams. This is an important time for them, and we need to make sure that they can work in a quiet environment.

Miss Cook spoke about the exciting Lansdowne Story Writing Competition that will take place between now and the start of the half term holiday. All students are able to enter, with some fantastic prizes to be won. Mr Jukes and Miss Cook have put together some learning packs to help the pupils structure their stories.

Finally the assembly came to a close with Happy Birthday being sung to Alex and Abdillah.
