12

The Year 10 students at Lansdowne School are starting to prepare for their school assembly themed around iconic British musicians. This will be staged just before the half term break. All three Year 10 classes will contributing towards the assembly.

Three classic British musicians have been researched as part of this work: the Beatles, David Bowie and Queen. The assembly will take the form of a PowerPoint presentation to explain our findings, and then some enthusiastic singing from the Lansdowne School Choir.

Different tasks have been set by Miss H as part of the research. One group of pupils have been researching the biography of all three artists. Some of the key moments in their career have been highlighted as part of the presentation. The pupils have been asked to research the band members, and the period in which they were they active.

Another group of students has been asked to come up with a definitive list of the top ten songs by each of the three artists. We have been looking online to discover which songs are the most popular.

The final research task has involved looking at the changing image of each artist. Online research has been completed, with images of each artist then being used as part of the presentation to show their iconic looks.

The Year 10 classes and the Lansdowne School Choir are looking forward to the assembly. Three songs have also been rehearsed as part of this celebration: Yellow Submarine, We Will Rock You and Starman.

A quiz will be set up as well. This will involve other school members matching up the names of famous songs with pictures of the three different British artists.
