First Assembly of the Term in the Brand New Building

The first day of teaching at the brand new Lansdowne School was an exciting time for both students and staff. The morning started with a whole school assembly in the amazing new hall.

Mr Jukes welcomed the new Year 7 pupils to our community of learners. The timetable for the morning was then explained. Each year group would have an extended tutorial period to ask questions about the new building, and then a guided tour for each group would follow.

It was explained how many of the staff had worked incredibly hard over the summer break to make sure that the school was ready for the returning students. The pupils were asked to offer any comments. It was suggested that there is so much space in the new school and the building has plenty of light.

It was then time for Executive Head Teacher Mrs Adams to address the first assembly in the new school. The Year 7 pupils were made to feel welcome, as well as the post-16 Year 12 students. We are incredibly proud that our new building includes provision for independent sixth form teaching.

Mrs Adams added:

“We have all had a long wait for this very special day. We have watched the new building take shape over the past twelve months. Finally we have the new school that you all deserve.”

Special thanks were then given to staff members Tom and Ben who have worked exceptionally long hours over the summer to make sure that the building was fitted out.

The assembly came to a close with the students being reminded that the FRESH rules continue to guide us.

Welcome to the new Lansdowne School!
