Year 10 Combine Humanities Knowledge with Food Tech

Year 10 have been combining their humanities knowledge with their food tech skills. We have been learning about World War Two as our main history topic. The pupils have been looking at the food that was rationed during this period.

This then led to some cross-curriculum learning in food tech. A tasty apple crumble was baked. We used ingredients including oats, apples and sugar. We have been learning how these were used during World War Two as they were common items.

The food tech lesson required the students to follow a recipe sheet. Careful measurements needed to be made. We had some great fun mixing the crumble ingredients together. Other key skills included measuring, chopping and using the oven safely.
