Year 8 Improve Makaton Skills During Music Lessons

Year 8 have been using their music lessons to help improve their makaton sign language skills. This is an important part of learning for all students at Lansdowne. We use makaton to enable everyone to feel part of our school community.

A warm up game of hangman started a recent session. The class members were asked to speak and sign out the letters that they wanted to suggest.

It was then time to sing and sign Tomorrow from the musical Annie. This is a favourite during our weekly singing and signing assembly.

Music teacher Mr Gratton went through each verse and the chorus with the class members. Praise postcards were on offer for pupils who able to remember the correct signs.

The lesson finished with an uplifting performance of Tomorrow, as you can hear in the recording below.
