Year 10 PSHE Looks as the Dangers of Alcohol Abuse

Year 10 have been learning about alcohol as part of our PSHE learning. We started this work by thinking about what is meant by alcohol abuse. This was defined as drinking too much alcohol.

We then held a class discussion to find out some of the reasons why people might want to drink. Ideas included peer pressure, believing that it will cheer them up, addiction or perhaps they like the taste.

The pupils also considered the after effects of drinking alcohol. We broke this down into short term and long term effects.

Different table activities took place. Some of the students completed a worksheet that described the short term effects of drinking alcohol. Another group of pupils answered a True or False worksheet about alcohol.
