Year 13 Attend Lambeth Apprenticeship Conference

Eight students from Year 13 recently attended the Lambeth Ambassadors Apprenticeship Conference. This was staged in one of the suites at The Oval cricket ground. The aim of the event was to explore local apprenticeship opportunities that are available to our students.

The Conference started with some inspiring stories from apprentices working in the borough. We heard from a plumber and a builder about how they are being trained to work in these industries.

Our students had plenty of questions. We were able to find out how long the training might take, and what are the benefits of being an apprentice. It was explained that you receive outstanding training as well as being paid!

Some team building exercises then took place. The Lansdowne students were encouraged to work together as a team to achieve.

One of the activities involved each pupil holding connected pieces of string. In the centre was a small ball. We had to move the string around a table without the ball falling on the floor.

Each student was given a goody bag to take away from the event. This included literature and ideas about the next step if we want to consider an apprenticeship.
