Lansdowne School Council Update

The Lansdowne School Council is excited about welcoming the local athlete Ezekiel Ewulo into our school as part of the Sports for Champions project. Our first Council meeting of the new year was spent planning this visit.

The Cllr’s were asked by Head of School Mr Jukes how they would like to spend any of the sponsorship money raised as part of the event. It was agreed that the students would benefit from some sporting equipment to be used in the playground.

Mr Jukes then thanked the School Council members for welcoming the new Year 7 students to Lansdowne School. We are very pleased to see three new tutor groups joining our school community.

A general catch up of the activities of some of the Cllr’s over the summer break then followed. We heard how one Council member has been offered weekend work in a local shop. This follows on from the outstanding feedback he received as part of his Lansdowne work experience.

Finally School Council was updated over the return of the after school clubs that take place every Thursday. We have some new additions to look forward to this year. Clubs will be offered in Film Studies and a Lansdowne Rock Band. Regular clubs such as Gardening, Football, ICT and Dance will also return.
