The Year 11 students are continuing with preparation for the various art qualifications that the pupils are working towards. One group has completed a comparison exercise with their own work and some paintings by the artist Mitchel Mew.
The students looked at the use of colour in his work. Some warm, rich textures are used. We created our own paintings using Mew’s work as a starting point.
Both paintings were then placed side by side. The students were asked to write sentences comparing the two pieces of work.
Some of the other Year 11 students have started work on their clay tiles. These are rolled out, and then a unique design is added to the surface before they are fired up in the school kiln.
