Year 10 have used their weekly drama lessons to understand how they can handle feelings of anger. We watched a famous scene from the Shrek movie. The main character finds it hard to contain his anger after he is upset.
The pupils worked in small groups to recreate this scene. Class teacher Lisa spoke with the students to ask them how they thought each character might be feeling. We then presented our piece of acting to our other friends in the class.
Each class member was then asked to describe a situation that makes them feel angry. Staff members Lisa and Emily helped the pupils to think of a strategy that we could use to help calm the situation.
We agreed that identifying the early signs of when we might feel angry was a useful approach. The session finished with the students agreeing to use these ideas during their day to day experiences at Lansdowne School.
