Both Year 7 classes welcomed a special visitor to our school with PC Sarah from the Met Police taking some time to talk to the pupils. PC Sarah wanted to let the Year 7 students know about the help they can receive from the police.
The pupils were asked where in London we can see the police. We heard answers such as in cars, on the river or even in helicopters.
We then spoke about how we can contact the police in an emergency. Many of the pupils were aware that we can call 999 if we feel in danger.
PC Sarah was keen to help Year 7 understand how we can stay safe. One of the tips passed on was to be careful if we need to use a mobile phone whilst out in the street.
The next activity involved the pupils trying to identify the many items of equipment that were being carried by PC Sarah. We were shown handcuffs, a police radio, a body camera, a notebook, evidence bags and a first aid kit.
The Year 7 pupils had plenty of questions to ask at the end of the session. PC Sarah reminded the students that the police are here to help keep us safe.
