Year 8 have have made good progress with their humanities research on Islam. A recent lesson started with a recap of our existing knowledge. The pupils were able to remember words such as Quran, Mosque and Allah.
We have compared how Muslims worship with other major world religions that we have researched. One of the class members explained how Muslims worship whilst kneeling on a special prayer mat.
Year 8 were then introduced to the Five Pillars of Islam. We found that these are the basic acts for Muslim life. A diagram showing the ideas was drawn in our books.
A class discussion took place place about the Five Pillars. Each pupil was asked to explain in more detail about what they thought the ideas might mean.
