Year 13 Bake Tasty Mexican Burritos in Food Tech

Year 13 are looking at the carbon footprint of food during current food tech lessons. The students have looked at where our food comes from, and the impact this might have on the environment.

This was also a good opportunity to look at tasty dishes from around the world. It led to the Year 13 students designing and baking their own Mexican burritos.

The class members were asked to choose their own ingredients. Some sampling of the spices took place to help find our own unique taste preferences. One of the aims of the session was to communicate our likes and dislikes.

Alternative ideas were also discussed. The students were asked to suggest what they could use in place of some of their ingredients.

The practical work to prepare our burritos demonstrated dicing, frying and wrapping skills. Each class member was able to prepare their own customised burrito to take home and share.
