Year 11 Prepare School Trip as Part of Life Skills Learning

Some of the Year 11 students are working in life skills to plan ahead for a school trip. Class teacher Aga introduced the pupils to the nearby Horniman Museum. We then started to think about the planning needed ahead of a school trip.

The students were asked to prioritise which arrangements should be made first. Options included lunchtime arrangements, travel plans and booking with the museum.

We established that the first task was to decide what we wanted to visit at the Horniman, and then confirm this with the Museum. We looked at the Museum website to see what events are coming up.

One of the events that was popular amongst the pupils was a Halloween Fair. This was taking place over a weekend. The students were asked to explain why this wasn’t good timing for a school trip.

Class teacher Aga helped out the pupils with some vocabulary such as daily, holiday and cost. Year 11 will work through all the stages needed to plan for the trip. We will then put these into practice and enjoy a day out at the Museum.
