Y10 Halloween Safety

Year 10

Year 10 have been thinking about ways in which we can keep safe during Halloween. We have held a class conversation thinking about why we celebrate Halloween, and why it is important to always feel safe if we head out trick or treating.

We asked Year 10 to think of some of the ways in which we can enjoy Halloween, yet still be responsible. Suggestions included trick or treating at a house that has a pumpkin outside. This means that the owner is welcoming and is expecting trick or treaters.

Other class members mentioned that it would be a good idea to trick or treat with an adult. We should also only knock on the doors of people that we know. We also thought about the sweets or gifts that we might be given whilst trick or treating. Year 10 learnt that we should only accept sweets that are still in a wrapper. We know that these won’t have any germs that might have been passed on.

Year 10 then took part in some drama role-play to see how we might react during a trick or treat situation. We also held a wider class discussion thinking about the commercialisation of Halloween, as well as any possible religious objections.

Finally we finished off our Halloween work by designing a stay safe poster. A couple of our Year 10 pupils explain some of their thoughts in the recording below.
