Year 7 Science Knowledge

DSC00901

The new Year 7 pupils at Lansdowne School have been demonstrating their existing science knowledge by successfully completing a number of worksheets. The aim of this exercise was to find out what the interests are for each new class member, and then to put in place learning objectives that can meet the needs of each individual pupil.

An example of this work included a work sheet that listed everyday items. The pupils were asked to identify any scientific traits that could be found in each item. This might be sound, light or heat.

Other questions asked the pupils to label and identify the different parts of a bird, whilst some of the tasks looked at how we can increase the power in a car.

All of the exercises were completed as independently as possible. Adult help was available if needed. We encouraged the new Year 7 starters to use plenty of signing to help answer the questions.
