The Year 11 pupils are starting to prepare ahead of our school trip to the Tate Modern. We have been learning about the work of the contemporary artist Paul Klee during our art sessions. The students have been observing how his work is characterised by the use of incredibly bright colours added to buildings. This fits in perfectly with our overall theme of looking at structures and design.

Some Paul Klee inspired artwork has already been produced by the Year 11 pupils ahead of the Tate Modern trip. We have asked the students to take a look around at the buildings that we can see in our community, and then to apply some striking colours in the style of Paul Klee.

Other art work created by Year 11 includes some self-portraits that have been manipulated to show some abstract bright designs. The students are already starting to build up an impressive personal portfolio. If suitable, this work will then be submitted to form part of the assessment for our GCSE and GCSE Entry Level qualifications in Art.
