Music and Literacy Collaboration

Year 10

We are incredibly proud of some of the recent music work that pupils in Year 9, 10 and 11 have achieved. Miss Shelton has been helping the students to understand some quite complex musical notation sequences.

What has been extra special about this work is that we have combined this knowledge with our literary learning. The pupils have used the letters found in musical notations to then spell out a written word.

A collection of words is then placed together to tell a simple story that has a corresponding musical soundtrack. This has enabled the students to create some music, as well as to develop our literacy skills.

A display featuring this work is now on display in the Lansdowne School music studio.
