Year 9 have been adding further pop artists to their portfolio as they continue their learning about this form of artwork. The work of Wayne Thiebaud has been studied during recent lessons.
The pupils have see how this artist used a lot of highly colourful cake imagery throughout his work. Year 9 have created their own interpretations of some of Thiebaud’s pieces using a variety of different mediums. We have used coloured charcoal to demonstrate how a blending effect is possible. The texture is also similar to one that we might see on a piece of cake.
This work has now started to use textiles. We are using various fabrics as a suitable mount for some cupcake designs that have been created. Future art sessions will see the Year 9 students work towards a large scale 3D structure of a cake.
