Year 9 have been researching some of the great Victorian inventions as part of our humanities learning. The pupils were presented with a series of various fact cards. Each one contained some detail about a great Victorian invention. These included the steam train, bicycles, lightbulbs, the telephone and chocolate easter eggs.
We set the task for the pupils to produce an information sheet that could chronologically document each invention. Key facts such as the name of the inventor and the use of each invention had to be documented.
Finally we asked the Year 9 pupils to consider each invention in relation to one another. We wanted the students to offer reasons as to how the inventions have helped us, and to argue which are the most important inventions. You can listen to some of these ideas in the short recording below.
