Lansdowne School Carol Concert

The autumn term came to a close at Lansdowne School with the staging of the Christmas Carol Concert. Mrs. Adams welcomed the many parents and carers who had kindly come along to help support the pupils.

Months of preparation have been put in place for this event. Miss Shelton and Mikita have been working with the Lansdowne School Choir and other pupils from around the school. This was very much a joyous occasion with the pupils asked to express themselves through their enthusiasm for singing and signing.

Many of the songs performed had a special Christmas message. These included Silent Night, Jingle Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Joy to the World.

Once our singing celebration had come to a close, Mrs. Adams once again addressed the assembly. She thanked the Lansdowne School Council for making all of the Christmas celebrations at our school possible.

The Council meets weekly with Mrs. Adams to offer suggestions as to how we can continue to improve the school for all pupils. Suggestions for this year have included the staging of a Christmas pantomime and holding an end of term Carol Concert. Both of these requests have been successfully achieved.

Another idea from the School Council was to hold a cake sale to help raise money for Ebola victims. This took place immediately after the Carol Concert. Cakes had been baked by pupils throughout the school during ther Food Tech lessons. Class 10CJ also sold some creative Christmas cards that they have been making.

The final task to carry out during the Carol Concert was the drawing of the raffle. Pupils who have achieved high standards of both work and behaviour were given a free raffle ticket. We are pleased to say that every pupil in the school was given this honour!

The prizes were amazing – an iPad Mini, tickets for the London Eye and various shopping vouchers. None of this would have been possible without the tireless work of staff member Donna, who once again has organised this event.

Miss O’Leary then concluded the assembly by thanking Miss Shelton and Miss Renwick for their amazing work that they have contributed towards our school community. We wish them both the best of luck for their new challenges.

Teaching for the new term at Lansdowne School starts on 6 January. We would like to wish all pupils, parents and carers a peaceful Christmas break.
