Year 11 Energy Source Video

Year 11 have been finding out about different energy sources as part of the science curriculum at Lansdowne School. Coal, gas, oil and nuclear energy have all been researched.

The students have looked at the process involved in creating energy output in a power station. We have broken down each stage to demonstrate the coal being burnt which then leads to steam, a turbine being turned, the spin generator and then finally electricity. The students have enjoyed acting out this short sequence.

Our learning continued with the completion of a true / false worksheet being completed by each pupil. We were able to look at the oil gas, coal and nuclear power, and then to try and decide which of these was the safest and most cleanest.
