The Year 11 students at Lansdowne School have been preparing for a drama entry level examination. This learning requires the pupils to study one piece of text in great detail. The Lansdowne students have been looking at some of the characters and ideas contained in Shakespeare’s Tempest.

The pupils are all now familiar with Act 1 of the play. We have seen how this is a complex story that involves different worlds colliding. A series of comprehension exercises have been completed to help the students become familiar with the plot.

Improvisation has been used as part of the drama learning to help the pupils to understand the motivations of the main characters. The shipwreck scene that brings some of the characters to the magical island is the current focus ahead of the entry level exam. The pupils have also acted out scenes exploring the relationship between Ferdinand and Miranda.
