Year 8 Geography Learning on the London Underground

Recent geography work in Year 8 at Lansdowne School has involved the children learning about London, and also looking at different maps. The perfect combination for these two topics has been a detailed study of the London Underground map.

The pupils have been understanding how the network is made up of a series of different lines. This then led to some research how about the lines are connected, and some of the interchanges that can be made.

Each class member has completed a worksheet addressing this theme. The pupils were asked to find the most direct route for travelling between two stations that involved a line change.

Some of the Year 8 students have also completed a more advanced level of learning. Different zones and pricing structures have been looked at. Questions have been asked about how much it would cost to travel between two given stations during a particular time.
