Groups of Year 11 students at Lansdowne School are being introduced to various local businesses throughout the autumn term. This is part of the Industry Insight Day project. The aim is to help the students understand a little more about the opportunities that are available once they leave Lansdowne School.
One group of pupils recently attended a session at the nearby Premier Inn in Brixton. We were given a tour of the building, with the different work roles being explained. This session was also going to take on a practical element, but the staff were so efficient that most of the work had already been completed for the morning!
The importance of teamwork was also helpfully explained by some of the Premier Inn staff. The Lansdowne students learnt how this is important in a work situation as staff can achieve more when they help each other. Some team building tasks were then carried out by the pupils.
Back in the classroom and the students all composed a thank you letter to the staff at Premier Inn who very kindly gave up their time to explain a little more about their work. Future visits to other nearby businesses will continue throughout the term for the Year 11 students.
