All students took part in the first Singing and Signing assembly for the new spring term at Lansdowne School. This was an opportunity for our school community to come together and look forward to the New Year ahead.
Head of School Mr Jukes addressed the assembly. He asked the pupils what we traditionally do to start the New Year. Some of the pupils suggested fireworks. Another answer was to make a New Year resolution.
Mr Jukes invited the students to share some of their 2017 resolutions. We heard about being kind to a younger brother, and helping our friends around the school. Mr Jukes added that a wonderful resolution for pupils would be to focus on all lessons and to achieve our best.
The Lansdowne School Choir then led the way with a couple of lively songs to start the morning. (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction and I Feel Good were both performed. Staff member Kit kept the rhythm with some guitar playing, whilst Mikita added her excellent Makaton skills.
The Star Class of the Week trophy was then presented to Class 9LE. They have managed to achieve an impressive 100% of their ticks during the first few days of the new term.
Mr Jukes then welcomed Charlie and Louie to Lansdowne School – a couple of new starters who are already settling in well. The assembly came to a close with the singing of happy birthday to a number of students and staff who have had their birthdays over the Christmas break.
