Year 10 Fire Safety PSHE Learning

Year 10 have been learning about ways that we can keep safe as part of our current PSHE learning. We have completed our topic on road safety. The students should all now feel confident in understanding traffic lights, crossing roads and the dangers of digital devices.

A recent PSHE lesson looked in detail at fire safety. Miss D started off by finding out the existing knowledge that the pupils have. This was then built on with a class discussion about strategies for different situations.

The pupils found out about the dangers of breathing in smoke and some of the basic rules that we can observe if a fire breaks out. We also spoke about when to dial 999 and the importance of staying calm.

The session finished with a calm walk through of the Lansdowne School fire safety drill. The pupils formed a line and then sensibly walked out to the fire assembly point.
