Achievement Assembly Celebrates Stars of the Week

Head of School Mr Jukes started a recent assembly by asking all the female students and staff to stand up. We then gave them three cheers for International Woman’s Day. Mr Jukes asked the pupils to think about the many women and girls around the school help us every day.

Certificates were then handed out to the pupils who take part in the Ebony Horse Club. This is an amazing facility based in Brixton that helps young people to learn horse riding and stable skills. The certificates celebrated the Lansdowne students completing the Ebony Ride Programme.

The Lansdowne Choir then performed Stand by Me and Waving Flag.

Mr Jukes then spoke with the students about some special guests that we would be welcoming to our school later in the day. The English Touring Opera have arranged to perform a piece called This is my Bed.

Our assembly discussed the different types of music that we listen to at home. This led to some pupils suggesting how opera might sound different.

Stars of the Week were then presented with certificates across each curriculum subject. Kindness certificates were handed out. The Star Class of the Week trophy was proudly presented to Class 8G.
