Year 10 Develop Persuasive Language with Macbeth

Year 10 are carrying out some very thoughtful drama work based around Shakespeare’s Macbeth. We have been looking at extracts to get an understanding of the characters.

Different versions of the text have also been explored. We have been reading extracts from the Shakespeare original as well as a contemporary text. The pupils have also been able to use a graphic novel to help them to follow the plot.

A film version of Macbeth is also being watched by the pupils. English teacher Mr Martin has been playing short scenes, and then asking questions about the storyline.

One of the aims is to examine the emotions of the main characters. We have looked in particular at Lady Macbeth. This will lead to some work looking at persuasive writing. Our drama lessons will be used to help recreate some of the scenes from Macbeth.
