Amazing New Lansdowne Mural Celebrates Local Life

We are incredibly proud to share some photos from our amazing new Lansdowne School mural. This was produced with students working in collaboration with our friends from Art4Space. This is a local social enterprise that helps organisations with art in the community.

Students from Years 7, 8 and 9 took part in the project. Workshops were held at the Art4Space studios in Stockwell. The artists also visited our school to help stage some sessions.

The final design ideas came from the students. We wanted our mural to reflect our school values and the local community. Many landmarks can be seen, such as Brixton Rec, The Department Store, Ritzy Cinema, Brixton Windmill and Reliance Arcade. There is even a reference to local boy David Bowie!

Lansdowne School is represented with achievement certificates and kindness awards, as well as some of our lively WII Dance club members. The centrepiece proudly displays our school motto of School, Home, Community.

We would like to thank our friends at Art4Space for helping to make this project possible. The mural was mounted to a wall in school playground during the half term break. It will be a permanent reminder of how we value our community.
