Year 9 have taken part in some very thoughtful class discussions on friendship as part of our English and drama learning. Our key text for the spring term is the American classic Of Mice and Men. We are using the characters of George and Lenny to explore ideas about friendship.
Short scenes from a film of the novel have been watched in class. English teacher Mr Martin then leads a conversation asking the pupils how they would react to certain situations.
Some strong themes about friendship came out of the conversations. The Year 9 students spoke about trust, betrayal and forgiveness. We also considered the idea of making plans, and then how to react if these don’t work out.
