Year 9 Pop Art Giant Sweets!

Year 9 have produced some amazing pop art work in the Lansdowne studio. We have been looking at the style of pop art and how this differs to more traditional paintings. The pupils were able to see that pop art is often scaled up to a larger size.

The subject matter for our own work was sweets. The pupils explained that sweets are popular and so they are perfect for pop art!

The first task was to sketch out some 2D drawings. This helped the class members to understand the design of each sweet wrapper.

These sketches were then transferred to large 3D models. The students used cardboard boxes, newspaper and paper mache to help sculpt their designs. The final task was to add some bright colours to the packaging.
