Indoor Curling Skills in Year 7 PE

Year 7 have been introduced to the sport of indoor curling. A recent PE lesson started with some light stretching and then a WII dance routine. It was then time to focus on improving our curling technique.

The pupils started by feeling the weight of the stones that are used. PE teacher Mr Lee explained that each class member needed to feel comfortable with their weight.

We then looked at the rules. One key point to remember was that either a knee or a foot needs to be touching the launch mat before we release our stone.

Tactics were discussed such as how to knock out of the way a winning stone launched by a competitor. The pupils also worked together as a team to try and block the approach for the other team.
