Year 12 Prepare for Sports Day with Teamwork Training

The Year 12 students are working hard on improving their athletics skills ahead of the Lansdowne School Sports Day. A recent focus has been on the relay race. The pupils have been thinking about teamwork and how they can improve their time by helping each other.

Our first exercise involved running as part of a team of four. PE teacher Mr Lee asked each team member to focus on the handover of the bean bag. This is where we can gain extra seconds.

The team of four them became two teams of two. Each race was timed. We compared the times for the foursome and the pair of runners.

Other Sports Day training events in Year 12 have included the shot put and a vertical jump. Pupils were measured how high they could jump from a standing position.

An evaluation took place at the end of the lesson. Students were asked to describe which activities they had one well, and which skills they need to improve ahead of Sports Day.
