Year 13 are close to completing a textile topic that has seen them design and make some unique tie dye cushions. Our work started by creating a tie dye design on two pieces of fabric.
It was then time to personalise the designs. The students were asked to think of a unique way in which to decorate their cushions. Some class members decided to sew their initials on to the cushions using fabric patches. Coloured buttons were also added.
New sewing techniques were introduced throughout this exercise. The Year 13 students are now able sew using running stitches as well as a whip stitch. We also used the school sewing machine under adult supervision.
