Year 12 Newspaper Reports on Jack the Ripper

Year 12 are carrying out some very thoughtful work in English lessons learning about the Jack the Ripper story. The students have approached this work in a very manner as they attempt to separate the fact from the fiction.

We have analysed the suspects and looked at their possible motives. The students have compared the circumstances around each murder to see if their are any similarities or differences.

All class members recently visited the Jack the Ripper Museum in the East End to help with this research. We were able to gather more facts and information for our work.

This knowledge is now being used to write a Victorian newspaper report. Our planning for this piece of writing has involved looking at the importance of headlines, an introduction, the main body and a conclusion. We have also considered the importance of using facts in a newspaper report rather than opinion.
