Y13 GCSE Food Tech Students Cook Three Course Meal

The Year 13 students recently completed a successful GCSE food tech practical session. The aim was to prepare a three course meal. Some of the students were especially keen, arriving at school at 8am to plan their meal!

Three different food themes were on the menu: a meal for an active adult, British cuisine and a meal suitable for a person with diabetic diet.

The students made their own menu choices once they had selected a theme. They researched which type of dishes would be suitable and prepared a shopping list for the menu. The food items were then ordered by each class member.

Some fantastic three course meals were prepared during the examination morning. There was a wide range of dishes from sushi to liver and onions! Staff members were invited to sample the food.

The next stage of the GCSE assessment is for the three course meal challenge to be repeated in a set time period. The pupils will have three hours from start to finish to prepare their dishes.
