The Year 12 students have started a detailed art project to create some insect lanterns. This work is influenced by the artists Polly Verity and Alexander Calder. Both use a wire frame technique to build their art.
Our work started with some circles being made out of wire. The next stage was to connect these together to form a backbone for our insects. Coloured paper tissue will then be added.
The final task will involve small light bulbs and batteries being placed inside our sculptures. We are planning to light up the art studio and create an atmospheric scene.
