Maths work in Year 11 is covering the broad theme of measurement. We have students of different ability levels answering different questions themed around measurement.
One of our challenges has been to compare measurements. The students are looking at commands such as greater than and less than.
We have also looked at what is meant by a sensible estimation. Different objects from around the school were estimated for their length. We then measured these, and compared our estimates with the actual length.
Each lesson ends with a self evaluation using the traffic light coding system. Students are asked to state if they found their work difficult, challenging or easy. This helps with future planning.
